The Diagnostic Center assists veterinarians, animal industry, and animal owners with livestock, poultry, companion animal, and wildlife disease problems. The Center is an integral part of a disease surveillance system that helps to assure a safe and adequate food supply and to protect the health and welfare of South Carolina citizens. The Diagnostic Center is “accredited for all species” by the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD) and is a member laboratory of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN).

University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine – www.vet.uga.edu

The UGA College of Veterinary Medicine and Teaching Hospital, located in Athens, GA,  is dedicated to training future veterinarians, conducting research related to animal and human diseases, and providing veterinary services for animals and their owners. Since South Carolina does not have a state veterinary college, South Carolina residents may attend UGA CVM at the in-state tuition rate.  SC veterinarians may also refer cases and request professional consults for their patients

The Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine (TUCVM) is the only veterinary medical professional program located on the campus of a historically black college or university (HBCU) in the United States. The TUCVM has educated more than 70 percent of the nation’s African-American veterinarians, and is recognized as the most diverse of all 30 schools/colleges of veterinary medicine in the U.S. The primary mission of the TUCVM is to provide an environment that fosters a spirit of active, independent and self-directed learning, intellectual curiosity, creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, ethics, and leadership; and promotes teaching, research and service in veterinary medicine and related disciplines.

With the mission to – To protect the health and value of American agriculture and natural resources, the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service is a multi-faceted Agency with a broad mission area that includes protecting and promoting U.S. agricultural health, regulating genetically engineered organisms, administering the Animal Welfare Act and carrying out wildlife damage management activities. These efforts support the overall mission of USDA, which is to protect and promote food, agriculture, natural resources and related issues. Also starting point for interstate and international travel for pets/animals.
